Oil-immersed transformer

What an oil-immersed transformer is for

The core and windings sit in a tank of insulating fluid — mineral oil or ester — which insulates and carries heat away to the radiators. It is the workhorse of distribution: excellent cooling, high overload capability, long service life, and the most economical choice at a given rating. It is the default for outdoor substations, industrial sites and grid connections where fire-safety constraints allow a liquid-filled unit.

Basis: mineral oil, ONAN, Dyn11, 50 Hz. Losses per EU Regulation 2019/1783 (Tier 2). Indicative pre-sizing values — exact figures depend on manufacturer and options, confirmed at quotation.

Dielectric: your choice

Mineral oil is the economical standard. Natural ester (FR3) and synthetic ester (MIDEL) raise the fire point and biodegradability — often specified for indoor vaults, environmentally sensitive sites and where local fire codes demand it. All three are quoted against your requirement.

Frequently asked

Oil or ester — how do I choose?

Mineral oil is the economical default outdoors. Ester is chosen where fire safety or environmental exposure matters — higher fire point, biodegradable. We quote both against your risk analysis.

What losses do you supply?

Tier 2 as the legal EU floor; reduced-loss designs on request where the total cost of ownership justifies them (heavily loaded, continuous sites). A routine test report evidences the actual losses.

Is it delivered ready for the grid connection?

Yes — supplied with routine test report per IEC/EN 60076, EU Declaration of Conformity and full documentation, so it drops into a NF C 13-100 delivery substation.
