Replacing a transformer: fast, like-for-like, compliant

A dead transformer shuts a site down and costs money every day. Whether the unit has failed, is ageing, or has become undersized, we rebuild it from your rating plate, or size the uprate, compliant and delivered with no surprise at customs.

• 15–18 weeks  • Single unit  • Tier 2 / CE  • French support

Transformer substation
Like-for-like or uprating. From the rating plate and footprint, we reconstruct power, voltages, vector group, connection and fittings, or size a higher capacity. See the method in the lead-time guide and reliability in common failures.

Three situations, one shared urgency

Replacement is almost never a planned project. Either the unit has failed (internal fault, overheating, insulation ageing) and the site is down; or it is nearing end of life and you act before the incident; or your load has grown and the unit is now too small. In all three the clock is running, and the replacement must slot into an installation that itself does not change.

Rebuild from the nameplate

From the rating plate and footprint dimensions we reconstruct the specification, power, voltages, vector group, connection, fittings, so the new unit is compatible with the existing substation. In most cases a firm quotation follows without a site visit.

New means newly compliant

A new unit placed on the EU market must meet Tier 2 ecodesign and carry CE marking, even when it replaces a decades-old machine, subject to the text in force. We confirm this before the order, not at customs.

Speed is the real constraint

Our standard lead time is 15 to 18 weeks delivered, and a single unit is a routine order, not an exception, which is precisely where large catalogue suppliers are slowest.

Indicative approach, the final specification follows your requirement, confirmed at quotation.

What we need to quote

The simplest route: a clear photo of the rating plate of the unit to replace, plus a photo of the room or substation if possible. If the plate is unreadable, describe what you know (kVA, voltages, oil or dry) in the configurator or by e-mail. If only a fitting has failed (bushing, relay, gasket), a part replacement may be enough, see spare parts.

Frequently asked

How long does it take to replace a transformer?

Our standard lead time is 15 to 18 weeks, production and shipping included, customs clearance included. For a blocking failure, tell us: we prioritise and find the fastest route available.

Can you rebuild a transformer like-for-like from the old one?

Yes. From the rating plate and footprint dimensions, we reconstruct the characteristics (power, voltages, vector group, connection, fittings) for a replacement compatible with your existing substation.

Must a replacement transformer be Tier 2 compliant?

Yes. A new unit placed on the EU market must meet Tier 2 ecodesign (EU Regulation 548/2014) and carry CE marking, even when it replaces an older model. We validate this upfront, subject to the text in force.

Can I order a single unit?

Yes. We produce single units as readily as batches: replacing one transformer or one substation is a routine case for us.
