Built to clear customs and inspection

Sourcing in China exempts you from nothing. Placing a transformer on the EU market means meeting all of the following, and as the brand, we carry the manufacturer's obligations.

Impulse-voltage test laboratory

The five requirements

  • CE marking, EU Declaration of Conformity and full technical file, under our manufacturer responsibility.
  • Ecodesign Tier 2, Regulation (EU) 548/2014: capped no-load and load losses, mandatory since July 2021. This single rule eliminates most cheap transformers built for other markets. Read the Tier 2 guide →
  • IEC / EN 60076, type, routine and special tests; third-party witnessing subject to an agreed scope. See the test laboratory →
  • RoHS / REACH, hazardous substances controlled and documented across all components.
  • WEEE / producer responsibility: the equipment scope, installation and destination determine the applicable obligations. Registration and any relevant contributions are checked before placing the equipment on that market.

For EU medium-voltage switchgear up to and including 24 kV, Regulation (EU) 2024/573 addresses putting into operation from 1 January 2026, with specified derogations. The breaking medium and insulation medium must both be checked against the project requirements. Article 13

Who is responsible? We are, as the brand. By selling transformers under our brand, we take on the manufacturer's regulatory obligations: CE, technical file, DoC, Tier 2. The regulatory risk is ours, not yours.

And the import itself? Two ways to work

  • Your company imports (most common in B2B): you are the importer of record, EORI, import VAT, and we supply the complete pack: EU Declaration of Conformity, test reports, nameplate, technical documentation. Smooth customs clearance. See CE & documentation →
  • We arrange the import: delivery cleared through an EU-established importer or authorised representative, no customs steps on your side.

In both cases, the manufacturer's obligations stay with us; only the logistics change.

For projects in France, our designs also align with the applicable NF standards (NF EN 60076, NF C 13-100 / 13-200) and DSO requirements (Enedis / RTE); see the French version for the full France-specific documentation. This page states general principles, not legal advice.

Frequently asked

Can a transformer built outside the EU be sold in Europe?

Yes, origin is not what determines market access. What matters is that the product meets EU requirements and that someone established in the chain carries the manufacturer's obligations: technical file, EU Declaration of Conformity, CE marking, Ecodesign Tier 2. That responsibility is ours, under our brand.

Who is responsible for conformity, the factory or the seller?

The party placing the product on the EU market under its own brand. A factory certificate documents the unit; it does not transfer legal responsibility. We issue the EU Declaration of Conformity in our own name, and we hold the certifications rather than relying on the factory's.

What exactly is Tier 2?

Tier 2 is the second, stricter loss level of the EU Ecodesign regulation for power transformers, the legal floor for placing a transformer on the EU market today. It caps no-load and load losses; compliance is evidenced by the routine test report, not by a claim.

Do I need a KEMA or TÜV witness test?

Not by law, routine tests per IEC/EN 60076 are included on every unit with the report supplied. Independent witness testing is an option some buyers specify for critical projects or internal procurement rules; we arrange it when requested.

Which documents come with the transformer?

Routine test report, EU Declaration of Conformity, rating plate data, installation and operation documentation, the package your compliance file and your DSO connection file need.
